A sociolinguistic survey of the Bantawa language of southeastern Nepal was conducted in 2003.  Background research, planning, and preparation took place in the Kathmandu Valley in February and March, 2003. This was followed by field research in March and April, 2003. The purpose of this sociolinguistic research among the Bantawa-speaking community was to gather information to aid language development and literacy programmes using the Bantawa language.
