A sociolinguistic survey of the Kulung language of northeastern Nepal was conducted in 2007. Background research, planning, and preparation started in early 2007. Initially, some data was collected in Kathmandu in April 2007 in order to have better understanding prior to travel to the actual language area. The first field trip focused on collecting data from the western side, i.e. Bhojpur and Solukhumbu, and was conducted in May 2007. The second field trip was done in November 2007 and focused on collecting data from the eastern side, i.e. Sankhuwasabha and some parts of Bhojpur.
